A well known and highly respected organisation who are within the Health industry are seeking multiple Ward Clerks to join their team across three sites in the Western suburbs of Melbourne. This is a full time 6-week assignment, which requires you to be available to work Monday-Sunday both AM & PM – shifts will vary.
Your new role
The Ward Clerk will be responsible for ensuring a professional and caring and customer focused service is provided for all patients and visitors. They will be responsible for performing receptionist and clerical duties such as data entry in relation to the patient journey and communicate with all relevant area and maintenance of patient medical records.
- Ensure a professional, courteous, considerate manner when communicating with all staff, patients, carers, families and visitors in Ward/Department.
- Ensure patient confidentiality is maintained at all times
- Ensure admissions, transfers and discharges are processed accurately in a timely manner
- Entered patient data should be checked throughout the patient journey for accuracy and corrected if required
- Ensure paperwork associated to the patient’s episode of care is completed accurately and thoroughly including patient signatures as required
- Collate patient paperwork created during the patient’s stay. Check paperwork is completed and forwarded to Health Information
- Source information from other hospitals or institutions where requested by medical or nursing staff.
- Answer all incoming phone calls in a professional, courteous manner using name of department and own name and direct calls to appropriate area or person
- Page required staff at request of in charge and follow up page where no response is received.
- Organise interpreters to ensure patients have access to this service when requested by in charge
- Book transport via online booking service for patient as requested.
- Work collaboratively with nursing staff to ensure all documentation required to accompany the patient is available and collated.
- Ensure that relevant systems and databases dealing with patient and/or other information are efficiently and accurately maintained in accordance with organisational guidelines and policy and procedure
- Ensure that outpatient appointments and transport is organised for discharged patients
What you'll need to succeed
- Exceptional customer service skills
- As this role requires you to be on site, as per the latest Government mandate you will be required to show proof of your COVID-19 vaccination status (3 doses)
- A valid Working with Children's Check (employee)
- Flexibility in regards to working hours, weekend work and PM shifts
