Hays is currently recruiting for a Senior Planner role working for a growing council based in Melbourne’s Eastern suburbs. This is a temporary three month assignment paying at Band 6.
Your new role
Reporting into the Planning Coordinator, you will be working as a Senior Planner undertaking all aspects of planning applications and proposals. You will be project managing, providing advice and making recommendations within current guidelines. Your day-to-day duties will include:
- Providing verbal and written responses and advice regarding such applications to the public, your colleagues and other parties
- Preparing and submitting submissions for VCAT
- Representing the department at VCAT and other formal bodies
- Recommending solutions and resolving issues using your excellent negotiation skills
- Keeping up to date with all Council and State Government policies and objectives in planning
What you'll need to succeed
- At least three years’ experience as a Statutory Planner or currently already working in a Senior Planner role
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant or a related discipline
- Previous experience preparing and presenting reports
- Ability to work effectively with other teams
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Good time management skills and ability to work and act on your own initiative
