Production Engineer

Multinational Defence Company, seeks maritime Production Engineer in Darwin for 6-12month contract!

Your new company is a multinational defence organisation with a contract role available in Darwin.

Your new role
As a Production Engineer, you are accountable for:
  • Providing technical engineering and ship repair support for planned and corrective maintenance activities
  • Assess and manage technical risk and provide sea worthiness assurance
  • Work under broad professional guidance, independently or as a team member to ensure that design products comply with the technical requirements of the task and are performed within the allocated cost and schedule.
  • Provide configuration management of sustainment and production activities
  • Contribute to technical quality control
  • Identify and record problems and issues
  • Management of engineering change incorporation
  • Comply with and ensure compliance of all relevant Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental legislative requirements, policies, procedures and framework with the intent of preventing or minimising accidental exposures to self, colleagues, visitors and/or the environment. Adopt a pro-active and preventative approach to OH&S and risk management issues whilst serving as a role model to all employees by demonstrating full support of company occupational health, safety and environmental programs.
  • Effectively communicate with all levels of staff via staff meetings, written communications and one-on-one communication. Interact and work with management/employees to promote teamwork.
  • Understand technical, commercial and legal implications of actions and respond accordingly
  • Ensure knowledge of quality concepts, standards, systems and programs and their importance to the organisations success.

Other relevant duties as assigned.

What you'll need to succeed
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Appropriate qualifications in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or Marine Engineering.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • CAD software skills, the ability to go into drawings and pull data
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently to organise and prioritise demands, handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously, set and meet deadlines and follow-through within a fast paced environment with multiple and competing demands
  • Good people skills and a proven ability to communicate in a positive manner with internal and external customers
  • Sound analysis, analytical and judgement skills
  • Ability to successfully work with people at all levels of an organisation including as part of a team
DESIRABLE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
  • Knowledge of Naval/Maritime ship systems
  • Experience in ship repair and maintenance
  • Experience in asset and project management
  • Experience in technical risk management
  • Relevant drafting, technical and task management experience highly desirable
  • Customer orientation (internal and external)
  • A proven ability to undertake effective stakeholder engagement across a broad base
  • Providing leadership and assisting team members in meeting contractual requirements

Note: Australian Citizenship is required to gain Defence access, a current NV1 would be looked highly upon.
