Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is a South32 Company producing high-grade manganese ore. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963.

Fantastic opportunity for a self-motivated HR Business Partner to join our charming yet hardworking team at our Groote Eylandt operation on a permanent basis.

Your new role

As a key member of the Human Resources team and reporting to the Lead HR, you will provide strategic support to business leaders in making good people decisions across the employee lifecycle. This
includes a focus on building strong teams and driving the South32 culture.
Key accountabilities include:
  • Provide advice to employees and leaders on all aspects of the employee lifecycle.
  • Help leaders with the interpretation of internal policies, procedures and Enterprise Agreement.
  • Review trends and metrics to develop solutions to local issues in partnership with the Operation.
  • Driving workforce planning and talent management processes within your area of responsibility.
  • Develop reports on HR performance indicators to promote and achieve business objectives.
  • Recommending and leading new initiatives that align with the organisation's people strategy.

What you'll need to succeed

As a HR professional, you will have previous experience in providing support on a broad range of HR matters and posses a desire for achieving positive people-related results.
To be successful in this role you will have:
  • Tertiary qualification in HR or related discipline.
  • Experience working with Enterprise Agreements and applying Australian legislation across HR work practices.
  • Proven ability and background working on a range of employment/industrial relations issues.
  • Well-developed HR generalist skills in an award-based environment.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills coupled with a strong partner service ethic.
  • Constructively challenge decisions which are not in best interest of the organisation.
  • HRIS Systems - Experience with SAP HR & SuccessFactors (Highly desirable)
  • Experience working in a fast-paced & high work volume environment
  • Onsite operational experience (Desirable)
