An amazing opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and passionate Development Engineer to join a reputable Local Government Council, based out of Melbourne’s CBD. You will provide technical and strategic input and operational support to Council’s Infrastructure Development Unit with a focus on ongoing improvement of Council’s infrastructure. As well as providing support to the department by assisting in ownership of all relevant engineering related customer enquiries, providing engineering comment and conditions to planning applications, traffic management matters and provision of advice to event coordinators and other stakeholders.
Your new role
Working as a Development Engineer, you will be responsible for the following below:
What you'll need to succeed
- Assist the Coordinator Infrastructure Development in the preparation and development of Council’s 10-year Capital Improvement Program for drainage and transportation infrastructure.
- Assist with the planning, costing, scoping and preparation, of Council’s capital works relating to civil infrastructure.
- Offer technical advice, preparation of estimates, preparation and review of traffic management plans, and development of specifications for inclusion in contract documentation.
- Provide engineering advice and expertise, mainly relating to traffic management and dealing with traffic engineering queries, investigation and analysing data using traffic count devices and preparation of traffic engineering designs.
To be successful in this role you will be a qualified Civil Engineer, preferably with local government experience and knowledge of civil engineering design as it relates to local government asset management systems. You will also have developed understanding of supervision or undertaking of development applications and subdivision construction processes, as well as and knowledge of local government issues and working with communities and community groups and statutory planning from an engineering perspective.
