Your new organisation
This CBD based organisation is looking for a category manager to join their team to manage, co-ordinate and oversee all activities relating to category management, strategic sourcing and contract management for the nominated spend category. Commencing immediately, this is initially a 12-month role with the possibility of permanency for the right candidate.
Your new role
- Apply category management processes in alignment with procurement policies
- Draft, negotiate, implement and manage contracts across allocated category/s
- Communicate and influence effectively across the business in relation to category strategies, supplier performance and contract life cycle activities
- Develop collaborative relationships with suppliers to ensure optimum delivery quality and sustained performance in line with business objectives
- Develop effective relationships with internal customers to understand business requirements, to forecast demand and to verify the effectiveness of established contracts
- Development of category strategies that minimise supply risk to the business, optimise cost and contribute to process automation
- Preparation and refinement of requirements for sourcing activities
- Drive and facilitate the negotiation process with prospective suppliers
- Evaluate the commercial aspects of the bid process and provides recommendations to the business
- Conduct market research and supplier profiling for selected categories within the portfolio
- Establish supplier relationship management processes to maximise value generation for Synergy
- Identify and implement category management improvement initiatives
- Perform dispute resolution and the settlement of contractual claims

What you’ll need to succeed
- A tertiary qualification in Commerce, Strategic Procurement, Supply Chain or similar and/or relevant experience Previous experience in Category Management and Strategic Sourcing
- Track record in delivering high impact outcomes
- Demonstrated understanding of Strategic Procurement processes
- Demonstrated understanding of Category Management processes
- Highly developed commercial and contract negotiation skills
- Well-developed administrative skills
- Well-developed analytical skills and processes
- Strong relationship management & influencing capabilities
