This Federal Government agency is seeking an APS5 Community Engagement and Communications Officer to join their Co-Design & Engagement branch in Darwin or Alice Springs.
The Community Engagement and Communications Branch provides engagement and communication solutions and advice to support the agency. They lead development and implementation of multi-channel engagement and communication strategies to support key initiatives across the agency and drive engagement with key internal and external audiences.
This is a 12-month assignment.
Your new role
The APS5 Community Engagement and Communications Officer is a team membership position required to perform engagement and community stakeholder support as part of a team. Key aspects of the role include presentation and public speaking, relationship management and administrative support. It will require working collaboratively within the team including sharing and developing specialised knowledge in areas of expertise.
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Building relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to facilitate and deliver the agency’s participation in a diverse range of small- and large-scale events, including information sessions, workshops, forums, conferences and webinars
- Representing the agency at external forums and events, providing information and guidance
- Contributing to the implementation and operationalisation of a targeted, proactive engagement strategy, including a forward planned events calendar, aligned to the corporate plan, broader Engagement Strategy and with branch and divisional business plans
- Managing the state/territory engagement inbox, acting as a point of escalation for the triaging of enquiries and requests
- This role includes travel and occasional weekend work
What you'll need to succeed
- Experience in a similar role
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment
- Working independently receiving limited direction
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Other Requirements:
- Australian Citizenship
- Willingness to undergo a pre-employment check, which includes a national police clearance
