Your new role
We are seeking to appoint Grants & Advocacy Officer within their Economic Development team on a full time permanent basis to facilitate successful funding and grants for selected Council services and community projects. As a key member of this team, your duties will include
  • Researching available grants at State and Federal level and gain a thorough understanding of what’s available
  • Be a point of contact within Council for grant information across the organisation, driving and managing grants across the Shire
  • Support Council officers to develop grant applications for Planning, Sport and Recreation, Community Assets, Community Services and the West Gippsland Arts Centre.
  • Ability to establish a strong network of business contacts to promote opportunities for businesses looking to establish operations within the Baw Baw municipality.
  • Support Councillors and senior officers with background information and administrative assistance at public meetings, Ministerial and Government events and departmental briefings, as required.
  • Monitor external funding opportunities and industry trends relevant to Council business and distribute this knowledge to key Council officers.
  • Assist as required with researching and writing internal and/or external communications’ materials in accordance with Council's corporate identity standards and guidelines and strategic goals.

What you'll need to succeed
This is a people focused role and requires someone who is driven, uses initiative and who has the ability to take action and reach out to organisations, groups, communities. You will be a great negotiator with strong business development skills and have the research and time management skills to match. Ideally you will be degree qualified and have previous experience in a grants or funding role within a Local Council or community organisation.
